Review : A fun addition to the RC experience, but not as practical as expected
I bought the STI to use with my rc plane. The plane has temp, battery voltage, and airspeed sensors installed. The main reason I wanted to use the STI was to monitor my batt voltage during flying, and to get an idea of how fast the plane is going in different situations.
The STI installed easily. The iphone app downloads quickly, and the app detects the STI right away. If the STI comes loose, the phone tells you the STI is mission. I found it rather easy to knock the STI loose because it sticks out from the phone by a considerable amount.
The user interface is great. You can add/remove different gauges for sensors. The interface works in portrait or landscape modes of holding the phone. You can resize each gauge, and position them on the screen how you wish.
You can ask the STI to speak aloud certain sensor readings at predetermined intervals. Also, you can set audible alarms for the STI to warn you, such as when battery voltage drops too low...
